Please remember in your prayers Jack Alvin Martens, who died March 27 in Auburn, Ala. Martens, 88, was the father of Jeff Martens, Physical Plant; the father-in-law of Leann Martens, Service Center; and the grandfather of Cassandra Watson, Service Center.
Jack was a U.S. Army medic in Europe during WWII, from February 1943 until November 1945. Among his military decorations was the Purple Heart with clusters.
A memorial service was held at noon Thursday, April 4, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. A celebration of his life followed from 1:45 to 4 p.m. at the Tin Cup restaurant, 1220 Rice St., St. Paul.
