Registration now Open for the AARC’s Summer Fitness Classes St. Thomas Newsroom May 17, 2012 The AARC will offer four different fitness classes – Sculpt, Spinning, Yoga and Zumba – during June. Classes are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and are open to all St. Thomas undergraduate students, graduate and professional students, faculty and staff who are AARC members.Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and will begin the week of June 4 at the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex. Each class will meet twice a week over four weeks for a total of eight class meetings. Classes will cost $30 for all St. Thomas students, and $40 for all St. Thomas faculty and staff who are AARC members. All classes will be held in one of the AARC’s aerobic studios, either Room 112 or 113.Register by calling (651) 962-6137 or stopping by Tommie Central, located on the first floor of the Anderson Student Center.Summer schedule of classes*:Sculpt – 4:15-5:15 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, Room 113 Sculpt classes provide a yoga-inspired workout that tones the whole body. Free weights used in the class allow individuals to personalize the intensity of the workout. During this four-week program, class members will build lean muscle, burn calories and boost their metabolism.Spinning – Noon-12:45 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, Room 113 Love to work up a serious sweat and burn a lot of calories? Then Spinning is for you. In this45-minute class participants simulate road cycling on stationary bikes while guided by an instructor and motivated by high-energy music.Yoga – 4:15-5:15 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, Room 112 This will be a beginner level yoga class and is available for anyone looking to move further into their yoga practice. Yoga is challenging and will increase strength, flexibility and endurance. This class is a great addition to any athlete and is a perfect way to challenge and enhance all aspects of the body and mind.Zumba – 5:30-6:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, Room 113 This class will incorporate all aspects of an energizing, calorie-burning workout. This easy to follow Latin-inspired dance aerobics will move every part of your body.
