Public invited to University of St. Thomas homecoming-reunion celebration this weekend

University of St. Thomas alumni and students look forward to the university’s annual homecoming-reunion celebration this weekend, and family fun is in store for friends and campus neighbors, too.

The following homecoming events are open to the public and take place on St. Thomas’ St. Paul campus:

Homecoming parade: The parade begins at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, along Summit Avenue between Fry Street and Cretin Avenue. Watch for floats, bands, cheerleaders and, of course, the St. Thomas mascot, “Tommie.”

Food festival: The annual “Taste of Saints” food fest will feature treats served by 53 student clubs and organizations. It’s a good place to have lunch before the football game and lasts from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, on the main campus quadrangle. Tickets are 50 cents apiece and are sold in $5 bundles; this is a cash-only event. There are activities for kids of all ages, and a beer garden.

Football game: The Tommies take on the Cobbers of Concordia College at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, on Palmer Field at St. Thomas’ O’Shaughnessy Stadium. Gates open at noon. Tickets are $7 for adults, $3 for students and free for kids under 5 and for UST students, faculty and staff with ID.

Homecoming-Reunion Mass: University friends and neighbors are welcome to join the St. Thomas community for Sunday worship. Mass begins at 11 a.m. on Oct. 21 in the Chapel of St. Thomas Aquinas.
