Samba Dieng, assistant director of International Student Services, is serving as the chair of Minnesota International Educators for the 2012-13 academic year. MIE is a professional association serving those who work with international students and scholars as well as in international recruiting and admissions at educational institutions and organizations throughout Minnesota.
Dr. Len Jennings, Graduate School of Professional Psychology, is the author of a paper, "Multicultural Knowledge and Skills of Singaporean Master Therapists,” published in the August 2012 issue of the Journal of Asia Pacific Counseling. Co-authors of the paper include St. Thomas doctoral students Ashley Gulden and Michael Oien. Both students and Jennings also presented a poster, "Cross-Cultural Experiences of Singaporean Expert Therapists" in August at the 120th American Psychological Association’s annual convention in Orlando, Fla. In addition, Jennings was the first author on the book chapter "Master Therapists: Explorations of Expertise" in Helge Ronnestad and Thomas Skovholt's book, The Developing Therapist (2012).
Dr. Vanessa Cornett-Murtada, Music Department, College of Arts and Sciences, is the author of "Nurturing the Whole Musician: Mindfulness, Wellness, and the Mind-Body Connection," which was published by Music Teachers National Association in the September 2012 issue of the MTNA eJournal.

Dr. Kevin Theissen, Geology Department, College of Arts and Sciences, is the author of an article, "The Altered Ecology of Lake Christina: A Record of Regime Shifts, Land-use Change, and Management From a Temperate Shallow Lake.” The article was published in the September issue of the peer-reviewed journal Science of the Total Environment. Co-authors include Biology Department, College of Arts and Sciences, faculty members Dr. Kyle Zimmer and Dr. Leah Domine.
Dr. Daniel Tight, Modern and Classical Languages Department, College of Arts and Sciences, is the author of an article, "The First Noun Principle and Non-Canonical Structures,” published in the fall 2012 issue of Studies in Hispanic and Lusophone Linguistics.

Dr. Lisa Waldner, Sociology and Criminal Justice Department, College of Arts and Sciences, with Betty Dobratz (Iowa State University), presented “White Power Activists' Use of Virtual Social Space and Its Implications” at the second International Sociology Association Forum of Sociology, held Aug. 2, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Dr. Meg Wilkes Karraker, Sociology and Criminal Justice Department, College of Arts and Sciences, and Family Business Center Fellow, is the author of Global Families, second edition, (c)2013 Sage. Global Families includes an essay, "Sex Trafficking: A 'Family Business,'" by sociology and criminal justice alumna Jen Blank.
