Father James Burns, Graduate School of Professional Psychology, recently had two papers accepted at national conferences. In August he will present "The Ecology of the Formation Environment and its Relationship to Catholic Priest Sexual Offenders" at the Division of Child, Youth and Family Services program of the American Psychological Association annual convention in New Orleans. In November he will present "They Closed the Tomb and All Withdrew: The Impact of Parish Closings on Priests" to the Religious Research Association/Society for the Scientific Study of Religion in Portland, Ore.
Dr. John Holst, School of Education, is author of a chapter, "Globalization and the Future of Critical Adult Education," in a new book, Global Issues and Adult Education: Perspectives From Latin America, Southern Africa and the United States, edited by Sharan Merriam, Bradley Courtenay and Ronald Cervero (Jossey-Bass, March 2006). Dr. Victoria Young, Art History Department, has accepted an invitation to join the Minnesota Historical Society's state review board to review nominations to the National Register of Historic Places, the nation's official list of cultural resources worthy of preservation. It is part of a national program to coordinate and support public and private efforts to identify, evaluate and protect historical and archeological resources. Properties listed in the register include districts, sites, buildings, structures and objects significant to American history, architecture, archeology, engineering and culture. The National Register of Historical Places is administered by the National Park Service, part of the U.S. Department of the Interior. Young will serve a three-year term on the board.
