Professional notes

Cindy Lavorato, School of Education, recently was selected by the West Education Law Reporter's Editorial Advisory Subcommittee to serve on the 2005 Authors' Committee. The selection followed a nomination from a member of the Editorial Advisory Committee. Lavorato, who has a juris doctor degree, will provide blind reviews of manuscripts submitted for publication in the Reporter. She also has been invited to submit at least one manuscript for publication consideration.

Dr. Sharon Gibson, School of Education, is the author of an article, "Mentoring in Business and Industry: the Need for a Phenomenological Perspective," published in Mentoring & Tutoring Journal (Vol. 12, No. 2). Gibson also gave a presentation, "Talent Engagement: Understanding Women Faculty's Mentoring Experience," at the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education Conference. She also was a panel presenter on "Social Learning theory and Implications for Human Resource Development" at the Commission of Professors of Adult Education Conference Nov. 3-6 in Louisville, Ky.

Dr. Susan Webster, Art History Department, was awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities fellowship to support her sabbatical research in Ecuador during the 2005-2006 academic year. She will conduct research to complete her book, Building Colonial Quito: Architect, Patrons, and the Profession 1600-1750.
