Power outage will affect network and telephones in Murray and OEC on Friday, Saturday

From Information Resources and Technologies

As noted in the Friday, April 7, Bulletin Today article from the Physical Plant, both Murray-Herrick Campus Center and O'Shaughnessy Educational Center will be without power during the weekend of Friday, April 14, and Saturday, April 15.

What this means to you
This power outage will affect network and telephones in Murray-Herrick Campus Center and O'Shaughnessy Educational Center.

Telephone service: If you live or work in Murray-Herrick Campus Center or O'Shaughnessy Educational Center, there may be intermittent interruptions in telephone service on Friday, April 14.

Network service:

  • If you live or work in Murray Hall, you will be without network service on Friday, April 14, until power is restored.
  • If you live or work in Murray-Herrick Campus Center, you will be without network services on both Friday, April 14, and Saturday, April 15, until power is restored.
  • If you work in O'Shaughnessy Educational Center, you will be without network services from 8 to 9  a.m. on Saturday, April 15, until power is restored. During this same time, cable TV will not be available on the St. Paul campus.

What you can do to help
In anticipation of the power outage, if you live or work in Murray-Herrick Campus Center or O'Shaughnessy Educational Center, please shut down your computer before leaving campus on Thursday, April 13. This will help avoid damage to computer power supplies.

Telephone service will remain available in other buildings across campus. A comfortable place to gain network access on Saturday if you need it will be in the Information Commons in the O’Shaughnessy Frey Library. Take note, however, that most offices and buildings have reduced hours over this Easter weekend.

Thank you for your understanding as the university continues to upgrade its electrical infrastructure. If you have questions about phone or network access during this power outage, please call the IRT Tech Desk, 962-2630, or send an e-mail. (Please note that the Tech Desk will be closed throughout the entire power outage due to the Easter break.)
