Polar explorer Will Steger '66 to speak here tomorrow

Renowned polar explorer – and 1966 St. Thomas alumnus – Will Steger will give a presentation at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 29, in Room 126, John R. Roach Center for the Liberal Arts.

Steger, whose talk at St. Thomas is sponsored by the UST Green Team, is visiting campus amid his speaking engagements for Congregations Caring for Creation, a network "promoting the active care of creation as integral to spiritual life and social justice in Minnesota communities of faith."

Steger, who has spent four decades as an explorer, teacher, writer, photographer and lecturer, will share slides and stories of his firsthand observations of the dramatic changes occurring in the Arctic and in Antarctica, where effects of global warming are most apparent. He also will share information about what individuals, government leaders and congregations can do to address this global concern. A discussion will follow the presentation.
