October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Breast cancer is a malignant tumor that starts from cells of the breast. It is found mostly in women, but men can get breast cancer, too.
About 182,460 women in the United States will be found to have invasive breast cancer in 2008. About 40,480 women will die from the disease this year, according to the American Cancer Society. Early detection is crucial.
This week the Wellness Center, along with Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society, will be in various locations on campus with pink ribbons, cards to send to those special women in your life, information, self-exam shower cards and more:
- 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, in the hallway outside the Caf, Murray-Herrick Campus Center
- 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, in Foley Plaza
- 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, in the Koch Commons lobby
- 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, in the Koch Commons lobby
