Note St. Paul campus parking rules for holidays and January Term, permit sales information

Vehicles in St. Thomas' St. Paul campus parking lots will not be ticketed for "no UST permit" from 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, until 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2007. All other parking regulations will be enforced during this time, including restricted spaces, fire lanes, meters, handicapped, and no overnight parking without a resident permit.

Commuter and employee vehicles left on campus over holiday break should be parked in Lot T (north of McCarthy gym) on the south campus. In order to properly plow the lots, it is necessary that other lots not be used for storing vehicles over holiday breaks. Whether or not you have a current UST permit and your vehicle will be parked on campus between Dec. 8 and Jan. 1, please make sure to notify Public Safety, (651) 962-5100. When you call you will be asked for your license plate number and a contact phone number during these dates. Anyone leaving a vehicle on campus over break and January Term is subject to towing at his or her own expense if snow removal is necessary.

Holiday break parking info for resident students
While they're strongly discouraged from doing so, resident students with permits who wish to leave their vehicles on campus over break or during January Term may do so, but they  must notify Public Safety, (651) 962-5100, with contact information and location of vehicle.

Residents must leave their vehicles in R3 of Morrison Hall Ramp or Lot T (on south campus just north of McCarthy Gym). It is advised that if you are leaving your vehicle on campus for any extended period (more than 48 hours), that you leave your keys with a friend or family member and leave their contact information with Public Safety as well, in case the vehicle needs to be moved. Those leaving their vehicles on campus over break and January Term are subject to towing at their own expense.

Resident students without parking permits who remain on campus over the holiday break anytime after Friday, Dec. 15, may obtain a temporary access to R2 or R3 of the Morrison Hall Ramp during the break. To obtain temporary access, please contact Public Safety, (651) 962-5100.

January Term and spring-semester permit sales
Permits will be required in all lots over January Term. Individuals who already have purchased fall-semester or full-year permits need not purchase a January Term permit, as fall permits are valid through January. January Term permits, valid Jan. 1-26, will be on sale at Parking Services for $30 starting Monday, Dec. 18. Spring-semester commuter and evening permits, which now include January Term and are valid until May 31, will be on sale for $130/commuter permit and $65/evening permit starting Monday, Dec. 18. Spring semester C-pass (Metro Transit unlimited rides bus pass) sales will begin Jan. 2, 2007.

Faculty and staff with a valid permit may park in Lot H over January Term as well.   Faculty and staff may purchase an employee permit or MetroPass at any time.

All resident students are eligible to purchase January Term permits and may park in all resident lots (R2-North, R3, X, Y, and V) with a valid permit over January Term (until Jan. 27, 2007). The spring parking permit/ramp contract lottery will be held the first week of classes. Lottery applications for the spring resident permit lottery must be submitted by Monday, Jan. 29, 2007. All previously received lottery forms will be submitted automatically in the spring lottery.
