Nominate first-year student leaders for Talking Circle retreat 2008
Last January, a small group of staff from Campus and Residence Life intended to create dialogue and leadership on issues of diversity and social justice for a select group of student leaders through a retreat called Talking Circle. The retreat was held over four evenings and was rooted around the Native American tradition of the Talking Circle. Because of its success, the Talking Circle will be an annual retreat.
The Talking Circle 2008 planning committee invites your nominations of first-year students who are open to dialogue as they explore various aspects of race, oppression, prestige and difference at the retreat Jan. 25-27 at Camp Ihduhapi in Loretto, Minn.
The three-day retreat, sponsored by Campus and Residence Life, is for first-year students who are committed to making positive change within the immediate community and see themselves as change agents for the university. A number of speakers will discuss various aspects of diversity and social justice. This is an opportunity to encourage growth in first-year student leaders.
To nominate a student, submit his or her name and a short statement on why you think that student should participate to Drew Puroway or Taisa Tigue.
