‘Night in the Middle East’ features free food, live music St. Thomas Newsroom May 3, 2010 The St. Thomas Community is invited to “A Night in the Middle East” on Friday, May 7. The event, sponsored by the Council on Middle Eastern Studies, the Muslim Student Association and the Political Science Club, will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. in Room 304, Murray-Herrick Campus Center.The evening will feature live music by Saharan Nights, free Middle Eastern food catered by Shish, free henna tattoos, and a guest speaker, Odeh Muhawesh, an adjunct professor of theology at St. Thomas. He will speak on “A New Approach to the U.S. Policy in the Middle East and How to Handle the Iran Issue.”The event will include a fundraising raffle to win a gift card. The event, which is open to the public, is free with a UST ID. Guests and raffle tickets are $3. Donations are welcome, and all the proceeds will go to the sponsoring clubs.
