Never Give Up, a program that gives inner city high school students the chance to look into their futures and discover their dreams, is searching for St. Thomas student, faculty and staff volunteers.
During a two-day program volunteers will assess students’ skills and personalities to match them with careers that may be best for them. The program also teaches résumé, cover letter, college application and interview skills.
This is Never Give Up's second summer of helping Minnesota's youth. It is funded by the CLICE Center and was started by a St. Thomas student, Alaura Kramer.
Volunteers will meet with Kramer in the O'Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center on the university's St. Paul campus. Volunteers can break up their hours and don't need to stay an entire day. Most of the program will be conducted in the library.
Volunteers are needed:
- Wednesday Aug. 3 – from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Friday Aug. 5 – from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Volunteer hours can be used for Business 200, club volunteer hours, and religious obligations. Email Kramer for more information about volunteering or the program.
