National Earth Science Week (Oct. 13-19) events announced

The week of Oct. 13-19 is National Earth Science Week.  Sponsored by the American Geological Institute and supported by the U.S. Geological Survey and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, this week is celebrated to increase awareness of the earth sciences at all levels.

Two discussions
As part of the celebration, the St. Thomas Geology Department and the Geology Club will present two talks:

  • 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, in the O’Shaughnessy Educational Center auditorium — "The St. Thomas Mongolia Project," a slide expedition and talk by Dr. Lisa Lamb and students Tiffani Navratil and Rebeka Poier.
  • Noon Tuesday, Oct. 15, in Room 124, O’Shaugnessy Science Hall — " What Do Geologists Do? Earth Scientists in the Environmental Field," a presentation by Sheryl Filby, hydrogeologist, and Mary Finch, geologist, Barr Engineering (Minneapolis).

Everyone is welcome.  Come learn about the earth sciences.
