Who is Asama Bin Ladin? How has U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East and Afghanistan fueled hatred and brought the Taliban to power? What are intifada and jihad? Why should we attack or not attack Afghanistan?
These questions and many others will be addressed in a forum at 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, in O’Shaughnessy Educational Center auditorium, St. Paul campus.
Like the forum being held tonight, it will include diverse viewpoints in a candid discussion. Unlike tonight’s forum, it will focus on understanding the viewpoints of the possible attackers.
The Student Coalition for Social Justice, sponsor of this event, believes that by communicating and understanding, peace is reached.
The panel will include:
- Mark Anderson, Paul Wellstone’s senior foreign policy adviser
- Adam Cox, a senior political science major
- Raj Sethuraju, associate director of Multicultural Student Services
- And others (yet to be named)
