Minneapolis campus parking changes listed St. Thomas Newsroom November 17, 1999 By Public Safety and Parking ServicesIn order to better utilize the parking lots on the Minneapolis campus, while continuing to provide adequate parking, the following changes will take place on the listed dates. If you have questions regarding parking on the Minneapolis campus, you may contact the Department of Public Safety and Parking Services at (651) 962-4100. Your cooperation is appreciated throughout these changes.1000 LaSalle underground parking (entrance located at the corner of 11th Street and Harmon Place) Effective ImmediatelyThe underground parking facility now will open for parking reservations. If you would like to reserve underground parking, please call (651) 962-4100. Reservations can be made for no more than 15 spaces at one time and will be held for one half-hour after the reservation start time. Note: Reservations cannot be guaranteed, e.g., for 15 spaces at 1 p.m. we cannot hold these spaces beginning at 7 a.m. All efforts will be made to ensure that the reserved space is available. St. Paul faculty and staff with a UST parking permit are allowed to reserve parking for visits to the Minneapolis campus for no longer than 3 hours. Parking for visits longer than three hours is available in Lots 1, 2 and 3.When space is not reserved, it will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.Metered parking also is available underground 1000 LaSalle for short-term visits.Parking Lots 1 and 3 (entrances located on 11th Street across from 1000 LaSalle) Effective Dec. 1,1999Public Safety and Parking Services currently allows students to park in Lots 1 and 3 for $4 a day and $2 in the evening and on Saturdays when using a UST Express Account. Express Accounts must have funds available on the card. However, parking now will be available in these lots on a cash payment basis for anyone coming to the Minneapolis campus. When paying with cash, the cost will be $6 a day and $2 in the evening and on Saturdays.Parking Lot 2 (entrance located on Harmon Place, south of 11th Street) Effective immediatelyMinneapolis faculty and staff in possession of an MEC Ramp contract space now will have the opportunity of parking closer to their office location by giving up their MEC Ramp (green) card and parking in this lot or Lots 1 and 3. Please contact Janell Kantack at (651) 962-4101 if you are interested in making this change.MEC Parking Ramp (entrance located on Hennepin Avenue, north of 10th Street) Effective immediatelyThe University of St. Thomas and the city of Minneapolis have been working together to provide a discount to students when parking in the MEC Parking Ramp after 4 p.m. and on Saturdays. You now will receive a $1 discount.
