Make note of these policies for vacation and paid leave time

From Human Resources

Non-exempt (hourly) staff
You accrue paid leave time (PLT) each pay period. As of September 30, you may carry over up to 160 hours of PLT time, but any hours in excess of that limit will be forfeited. Your PLT account balance appears on each paycheck stub. On Oct. 1, any PLT time over 160 hours will be forfeited and removed from your account balance. Please review your current PLT balance and plan accordingly to make sure you will have 160 hours or less in your PLT account by Sept. 30, 2006.

Exempt (salaried) staff
You receive your vacation allotment at the beginning of each fiscal year, July 1, and must use that time by the end of the fiscal year, June 30. In other words, any balance left in an exempt employee’s account as of June 30 will be forfeited. You will receive your next year’s allotment on July 1. To avoid posting your time off in the wrong fiscal year, it is important to record your vacation time taken on the Human Resources Web site in a timely manner. Note: If you will be out toward to the end of June, please record your vacation time before you leave. If you wait until you return, the June 2005 time taken and recorded in July 2006 will be deducted from your July 1, 2006, to June 30, 2007, account. Be sure to post your time taken in the appropriate year.

As is the usual practice at UST, you must make vacation and paid leave time arrangements with your supervisor. Make those plans soon so you can enjoy the time off that you have earned.
