Step away from your computer, phone and desk. Every Wednesday is Take Back Your Lunch day at the Food for Thought restaurant in Terrence Murphy Hall, Minneapolis campus.

Students, faculty and staff are invited to gather each Wednesday with friends and colleagues or join the community table in the back area of the dining room. Plan to buy or bring a lunch, find a chair at the table and take a well-earned break in your day.

Take Back Your Lunch day was inspired by The Energy Project and its work in promoting healthy workplaces. A FaceBook page reminds fans each Wednesday to go to lunch and gather reports of lunch experiences. A recent TwinCities.com article noted advice from the campaign coordinators, “The main thing is that you walk away from the desk, get out of the office environment and disengage from work.” A popular business book, Never Eat Alone: And Other Secrets to Success, One Relationship at a Time, by Keith Ferrazzi, suggests employees and organizations will benefit from internal networking lunches and the connections they can bring.

The Minneapolis campus is home to a community that comprises the College of Applied Professional Studies, Opus College of Business, School of Law and several specialized centers and institutes.
