Literary club sponsors ice cream social Friday St. Thomas Newsroom September 16, 2009 UST students and faculty are invited to an ice cream social sponsored by the UST literary club, Sigma Tau Delta, on Friday, Sept. 18. This year’s get-together will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the O’Shaughnessy Room (leather room), Room 108 of the O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center. The event will have a Harlem Renaissance theme. Included in the program will be a reading from Zora Neale Hurston’s novel, Their Eyes Were Watching God, and a brief lecture on literature and culture of the time period. Members of the UST Jazz Ensemble also will perform. Club members will unveil the design for a new stained-glass window honoring Hurston that will be installed in the O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center this year as part of its 50th anniversary celebration.
