Database trials – feedback requested
The following resources are available via the UST Libraries Trial Databases Web page:
- The Bibliography of British and Irish History Online (BBIH) (formerly the Royal Historical Society Bibliography of British and Irish History) provides bibliographic data on historical writing that deals with the British Isles and the British Empire and Commonwealth during all periods for which written documentation is available – from 55 B.C. to the present. Send comments to Ann Kenne. The trial ends Dec. 7.
- The new Palgrave Dictionary of Economics Online is a subject encyclopedia for economics, useful for getting definitive explanations of economic concepts, browsing for research paper topic selection, and locating additional sources for further reading from the article bibliographies. The database contains more than 1,872 articles. Users can locate articles in a number of ways, by keyword search at top left, browse by letter of the alphabet, browse by topic (uses the Journal of Economic Literature or JEL classification – open the browser, pick the category’s radio button and hit Update), or browse by contributor.
