Lent fasting instructions: Catholics over the age of 14 are asked to abstain from eating meat on Ash Wednesday and all Fridays during Lent.

In addition to abstaining from meat, Catholics ages 18 to 59 are asked to fast (eat only one full meal) on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. On these days, smaller quantities of food may be taken at two other meals, but should not equal a full meal together. No food should be consumed at any other time on those days.

Almsgiving instructions: Almsgiving means helping people in need out of love. The collection at Ash Wednesday Masses will be for Operation Rice Bowl. Proceeds from this program, collected during Lent by Catholic Relief Services, go to those most in need around the world.

Also feel free to drop off donations for Operation Rice Bowl in Campus Ministry, Room 105, Murray-Herrick Campus Center.
