Interested in working on the editorial staff of this year’s Summit Avenue Review? Attend a short organizational meeting from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, in Room 355, John R. Roach Center for the Liberal Arts.

Summit Avenue Review is the award-winning literary and visual arts magazine edited and produced by University of St. Thomas students. Editorial work begins fall semester, and the magazine is published in the spring.

Anyone in the St. Thomas community is invited to submit poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction or visual art to the magazine. Send via intercampus mail it to Summit Avenue Review, Mail # ALB 333. Be sure to include a self-addressed return envelope and a phone number where you can be reached by student editors during the academic year.

If you have questions about the magazine or the meeting, call Dr. Lon Otto in the English Department, (651) 962-5609, or send him an e-mail.

Please note that there is a course, ENGL 480, Literary Magazine Practicum, available to students working on the magazine. It gives guidance in practical issues of editing and desktop publishing, examines the role of literary magazines form the founding of Poetry magazine in 1912, and reflects on the state of contemporary literary magazines. If you’re interested in the practicum, contact Otto as soon as possible. Arrangements for enrollment in the course need to be made well in advance of spring registration.
