The second session of “Engaging Truth,” discussions sponsored by the Center for Catholic Studies, will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, in the Catholic Studies Center, 2057 Portland Ave.

Dr. David Penchansky and Dr. Corrine Patton, Theology Department, and Dr. Tom Sullivan, Philosophy Department, will begin the discussion with reflections of their own.

The Catechism states that:

107. “The inspired books teach the truth. ‘Since therefore all that the inspired authors or sacred writers affirm should be regarded as affirmed by the Holy Spirit, we must acknowledge that the books of Scripture firmly, faithfully, and without error teach that truth which God, for the sake of our salvation, wished to see confided to the Sacred Scriptures.’ (DV 11.)”

The question for conversation will be “How are we, as Catholics, to understand that claim?”

Pizza and pop will be provided. R.S.V.P. to Kathy, (651) 962-5700, or Mary Kay, (651) 962-5705, so there will be enough refreshments.
