Dr. Jeanne McLean has been appointed academic dean of the St. Paul Seminary School of Divinity. She has served as interim dean since June 15.
The Rev. Dennis Dease, with the approval of Archbishop Harry Flynn, appointed McLean as dean, effective Feb. 1.
McLean holds a doctorate in philosophy from Loyola University of Chicago. She served on the faculty of Ohio Northern University and St. Mary’s College of Minnesota before becoming chief academic officer and academic dean at the College of St. Catherine in 1987.
McLean has been a consultant and researcher for Lilly Endowment Inc. since 1989, working primarily with theological schools. Her most recent project, “A Study of Chief Academic Officers in North American Theological Schools,” resulted in a book, Leading from the Center, published this year by Scholars Press.
