It's International Credit Union Week

The St. Thomas Employee Federal Credit Union is joining with 43,000 other credit unions in 91 countries this week to celebrate International Credit Union Week 2006. The theme this year is "Credit Unions – Making a World of Difference." All employees are invited to join us in our celebration.
On the Minneapolis campus, look for the credit union table from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, near the skyway on the second floor of Terrence Murphy Hall. Enjoy some refreshments, speak to the CU staff, or pick up CU membership information and cards, payroll deduction authorization forms, loan applications and 2007 Pocket Planners.
On the St. Paul campus, refreshments will be provided during regular CU hours, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, in the CU office, Room 209, Loras Hall.
This is also a good chance to enter the CU $50 raffle. The only requirement is that you either start a payroll deduction to savings (share account) or increase an existing deduction. The prize will be a $50 deposit into your CU share account. The drawing will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, so don't miss out!
Even if you aren't already a member of the credit union, any employee is invited to come by and check out what the credit union has to offer. The CU, founded in 1949, is an employee credit union and membership is open to any employee of UST or St. Thomas Academy, and also to any family members of those employees. "Once a member, always a member" is a credit union motto, so even if a member leaves his position at UST or STA, membership remains.
The CU is federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration and offers the following products to its members:
- Share savings accounts, with competitive dividend rates
- Christmas Club accounts (note: this year's checks will be available Nov. 2, 2006 )
- Loans up to $40,000 cumulative per member with rates based on the applicant's credit score (better credit gets lower rate)
- Share-secured loans (borrow up to the amount in your savings at a reduced rate)
- Vehicle loans
- Personal computer loans
- Signature loans
- Automatic payroll deduction for saving and for loan payments for all UST employees
