Two upcoming lectures here St. Thomas Newsroom October 20, 1999 Laurence Savett, M.D., will present two more lectures in a series of three interactive sessions on a health professions career. “What It’s Like to be a Patient” will be held Wednesday, Oct. 27, and “The Doctor-Patient Relationship” on Tuesday, Nov. 9. Both will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Room 449, O’Shaughnessy Educational Center. His first talk, “Choosing Medicine as a Career” was held Oct. 12.Students, faculty and staff are welcome.Savett practiced primary care internal medicine in Gloucester, Mass., and in St. Paul for 30 years. He teaches about the psychological and social dimensions of medicine and the doctor-patient relationship at the University of Minnesota Medical School where he is clinical professor of medicine. He also is visiting assistant professor at Macalester College where he teaches the course, “Humanism of Medicine,” and advises pre-med students.The series is sponsored by the Pre-health Professions Advising Office.
