Graduate Programs in Software at St. Thomas will host an information session at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, in Owens Science Hall, Room 150. The session will give an overview of the programs offered in Graduate Programs in Software, the application process and a question and answer period. Registration for the information sessions is preferred but walk-ins are welcome.
Graduate Programs in Software at St. Thomas have seen tremendous growth in it's M.S. in data science that launched one year ago.
"We’ve seen our enrollment grow from 20 students last fall to 107 students this fall," said Bhabani Misra, associate dean, graduate programs, School of Engineering. "It’s a great time to be in the software field with the Department of Labor reporting that the employment of software engineering is predicted to grow 21 percent by 2022, much faster than the average. In Graduate Programs in Software we continue to change our programs regularly both in courses and degrees as the field of technology will always move at a very rapid pace. We are delighted to meet this need in the market."
The M.S. in data science program is held either on weeknights or Saturdays. Interested applicants who have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline can apply now for the spring, summer or fall semester. Data science was named by the Harvard Business Review as “the sexiest job of the 21st century." According to Payscale.com, a data scientist in the Twin Cities area earns an average salary of $85,134 per year.
