Health Services Offers Flu Vaccine Clinics Oct. 30, Nov. 1

Students, faculty and staff are invited to a flu vaccine clinic on Tuesday, Oct. 30, on the Minneapolis campus. Health Services will provide flu shots from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Room 110 (next to the Bookstore), Terrence Murphy Hall. Tdap vaccines (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) also will be available.

A second clinic will be offered on the St. Paul campus from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, in the Anderson Student Center, Room 240.

“Influenza season in Minnesota typically occurs from October through April, but cases can occur sporadically throughout the year, including summer,” says a news release from the Minnesota Department of Health. “While widespread influenza activity usually does not peak until February, the first cases (reported since Oct. 1) tell us that influenza is beginning to circulate in our communities. Influenza vaccination is now recommended for everyone six months and older unless they cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons.”

The cost of flu and Tdap vaccines administered at the clinic will be submitted to all health insurance plans. Both flu and Tdap shots are covered under the UST Blue Cross/Blue Shield plan and the UST-sponsored Aetna Student Health Insurance plan. The cost is $20 for flu vaccines and $50 for Tdap vaccines for those not covered by insurance.
