J-Term Fitness Classes Start Monday, Jan. 2; Registration is Open St. Thomas Newsroom December 22, 2011 January fitness classes in the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex are available for purchase online. Classes will begin the week of Monday, Jan. 2.The classes are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and are open to all St. Thomas undergraduate students, and graduate students, professional students, faculty and staff who are AARC members.Classes cost $50 for a package of eight one-hour sessions. Each class meets twice a week for four weeks. All classes will be held in one of the AARC’s aerobic studios, Room 112 or 113.To register call (651) 962-6137 or stop by the Box Office in the lower level of Murray-Herrick Campus Center.Schedule of classes:Sculpt – 12:30-1:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays Sculpt classes provide a yoga-inspired workout that tones the whole body. Free weights used in the class allow individuals to personalize the intensity of the workout. During this four-week program, class members will build lean muscle, burn calories and boost their metabolism.Spinning – 6:15-7:15 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays Love to work up a serious sweat and burn a lot of calories? Try spinning. In this one-hour class participants simulate road cycling on stationary bikes while guided by an instructor and motivated by high-energy music.TRX – 6:15-7:15 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays Ready for the challenge? TRX is high-intensity resistance suspension training. During this four-week program participants will push their bodies to the next level. These intense workouts build strength, balance and flexibility.Yoga – Section 1, 4-5 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays Section 2, 4-5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays This class offers beginner-level yoga and is available for anyone looking to move further into their yoga practice. Yoga is challenging and will increase strength, flexibility and endurance. The sessions are a great addition to any athlete’s program and a great way to challenge and enhance all aspects of the body and mind.Zumba – 5:15-6:15 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays Zumba will incorporate all aspects of an energizing calorie-burning workout.
