Feminist Friday presentation will introduce new public service announcement
The next Feminist Friday talk will be held from 12:15 to 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, in the Luann Dummer Center for Women, Room 103, O’Shaughnessy Educational Center. Attendees should bring a lunch, but dessert and beverages will be provided. All are welcome.
Students in Timothy Scully’s videography class will introduce and show 30-second public service announcements that they have created to promote the Luann Dummer Center for Women and the UST Women’s Studies program. Themes of these announcements include advantages of combining a major in women’s studies with other majors, the importance of having a healthy and realistic body image and the disadvantages of judging others superficially.
Students in the Women’s Studies program will respond to the announcements in an informal discussion on the climate for female students and women’s issues at St. Thomas.
The UST undergraduate student presenters are:
- Shannon McCarthy, Tim Bresnahan, Kelsey Frederick, Nick Oprish, Jenni Hawkinson, Judd Berthiaume, Joor Vik, Chase Kenney, Teresa Shultz and Casey Garven from the Communication Department
- Katie McNamara, Carie Muntifering and Robyn Tabibi from the Women’s Studies program
