Farheen Hakeem to discuss ‘Muslim Women in U.S. Politics’

The Middle East Studies Program through the Associated Colleges of the Twin Cities invites all ACTC faculty, staff and students to a Ramadan meal and discussion with Farheen Hakeem from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, in Rooms 253-255, Rogge-Leyden Room, Murray-Herrick Campus Center at the University of St. Thomas.

Hakeem has demonstrated her commitment to political activity in her career as a community coordinator and in her past positions in education and community organization. She also ran in the primary race for mayor of Minneapolis in 2005 and finished third with 14 percent of the vote.

The event begins at 6 p.m. (sundown) with an Iftar meal. Hakim will speak at 6:45 p.m. and a discussion will follow.

The ACTC includes the University of St. Thomas, the College of St. Catherine, Augsburg College, Macalester College and Hamline University.
