Seminarians, 220 of them, along with members of the laity kicked off the 11th annual Borromeo weekend with a Mass in the Chapel of St. Thomas Aquinas and a procession across campus to St. Mary’s Chapel. Named for St. Charles Borromeo, patron saint of seminarians, the weekend is set aside for 40 hours of worship and fellowship between the graduate-level Saint Paul Seminary School of Divinity and the undergraduate St. John Vianney College Seminary. What began in 2005 as a way to increase fraternity between the seminaries has grown into a community-wide event that is open to the public.
The procession is the signature visual event of the weekend and something I love to photograph. Presented for you here is a selection of images from the opening Mass, the procession, and the arrival in St. Mary’s Chapel.
