The Office of Student Financial Services reminds students that deadlines are approaching for two 2002-2002 scholarship programs: the Affinity Plus Scholarship Program, and the Vincent L. Hawkinson Foundation Scholarship for Peace and Justice.

The Affinity Plus Scholarship Program provides four $5,000 awards, divided among three divisions: incoming freshmen who were members of a 2001 high school class, upperclass students already attending college, and nontraditional students returning to college after some time off. Applicants must be primary members of Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union or meet membership eligibility requirements and join the credit union before submitting a scholarship application. Application deadline is Thursday, Feb. 15. To receive an application and obtain more information, please call Jennifer Neis, (651) 224-1518.

The Vincent L. Hawkinson Foundation Scholarship for Peace and Justice is a $1,500 scholarship to be awarded in fall 2001. Applicants must reside or currently attend school in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota or Wisconsin. Scholarship finalists must be available for a personal interview in Minneapolis. The scholarship recipient must be able to attend a fall 2001 award ceremony. Scholarships are awarded without regard to religious affiliation. All decisions by the foundation’s Selection Committee are final. Applicants must complete an essay and provide a nomination form. The application deadline is Monday, April 2.
