Deadline extended to Friday, Oct. 27, for BUS200 service trip to Mexico

The deadline has been extended until Friday, Oct. 27, for applications to join the first BUS200 service trip (see the Community Partnerships Web page for a description of the BUS200 program). Ten students (five men and five women) will travel to Playa del Carmen for spring break 2007.

Local Mexicans in Playa del Carmen work for less than minimum wage to make this beautiful resort town possible for guests from all over the globe. Students will study the economic issues involved in creating and sustaining resort getaways, and provide service at a local school and a local church. Selected students will be involved with fundraising prior to the trip to reduce their costs and to be able to provide both service sites with a substantial donation.

If you are interested, please pick up information and an application in the reception area, first floor, McNeely Hall. Applications include preparation of four essay questions, submission of a current résumé and a letter of reference.

Selections will be posted by 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, in the McNeely reception area.

Any questions? E-mail Dr. Barbara Gorski, BUS200 director.
