Dale Bachman, president of his family’s floral and nursery business, to speak  May 4

It’s spring – a perfect time for Dale Bachman, president of Minneapolis-based Bachman’s Inc., to be the next speaker in the University of St. Thomas Alumni Association ’s 2006-07 First Friday Luncheon Series.

The luncheon begins at noon Friday, May 4, at The Depot, 225 Third Ave. S., Minneapolis.

Dale Bachman is the fourth generation of Bachmans at the helm of this family business, which has grown since its founding in 1885 (the same year St. Thomas was founded) to become one of the largest traditional floral and nursery operations in the world. During his tenure, he has led the company through an impressive growth period in the retail market and has overseen a successful response to increased demand for Bachman’s nursery and landscape products.

Bachman's has retail floral stores in the Twin Cities and St. Cloud, including Floral, Gift and Garden Centers and retail stores. Bachman's also operates indoor and outdoor landscaping divisions, a nursery wholesale division, seven acres of greenhouses and a 513-acre growing range near Lakeville that produces many of the company’s plants, flowers and landscaping products.

On first Fridays of each month during the academic year, the St. Thomas Alumni Association's First Friday Luncheon Series offers lunch and a speaker of current interest. St. Thomas alumni and friends, along with the general public, are invited. Cost of each luncheon and presentation is $25. A limited number of $10 student tickets are available at the St. Thomas Box Office.

Reservations for the May 4 luncheon are due Friday, April 27. Early reservations are recommended as these events fill quickly. For reservations and more information, call the St. Thomas Alumni Association, (651) 962-6430, or register online at the association’s Web site, https://www.stthomas.edu/alumni.
