‘Theology of the Body’ Scholar Christopher West to Perform Here Oct. 27 St. Thomas Newsroom October 11, 2012 “Theology of the Body” scholar and educator Christopher West will present “Fill These Hearts: God, Sex and the Universal Longing” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, in the O’Shaughnessy Educational Center auditorium.West’s press release describes “Fill These Hearts” as “an evening of beauty and reflection through John Paul II’s Theology of the Body – a bold, organic and contemporary understanding of human love in the divine plan. The evening is a journey through art, music and spoken presentation, coming to know the ‘why’ behind the ‘what’ of the Catholic understanding of sexuality and how it illuminates life’s deepest questions.”Christopher West.(Photo courtesy of West)The evening will feature reflections by West on the theology of the body, complemented by music from nationally touring rock band Mike Mangione and the Union, as well as film clips and sand painting.“Theology of the Body” is the name given to a collection of audiences given by Pope John Paul II during the first five years of his pontificate expounding on what West describes as the Catholic Church’s “redeeming vision of human sexuality.”West is recognized around the world for promoting an integral, biblical vision of human life, love and sexuality though Pope John Paul II’s Theology of the Body. He serves as a research fellow and faculty member of the Theology of the Body Institute near Philadelphia. He recently founded The Cor Project, a nonprofit global outreach devoted to cultural renewal through the “new evangelization.” Of all his titles and accomplishments, West is most proud to call himself a devoted husband and father. He lives near Lancaster, Pa., with his wife, Wendy, and their five children.This performance is open to the public.
