The University of St. Thomas Child Development Center has received a $500 Reach Grant from the Pillsbury Co.

The grant was given in honor of Janet Boyle, a Pillsbury employee whose child is enrolled in the center. The Reach Grant program recognizes the contributions of Pillsbury volunteers. Boyle is a member of the center’s Parent Advisory Committee and has contributed many volunteer hours. The committee meets once a month and is involved in a variety of activities, including planning monthly gatherings for parents to discuss child rearing, hosting social events, fund raising and conducting a parent satisfaction survey.

Becca Swiler, director of the Child Development Center, received the grant at an awards celebration April 26.

The grant will be used to subsidize children’s enrichment programs, such as offerings in music, soccer, foreign languages, swimming and dance.

The center, which opened in fall 1998, enrolls more than 60 children from six-weeks old to preschool age.
