Center for Nonprofit Management to host Sept. 11 program on leadership transitions
The University of St. Thomas College of Businss’ Center for Nonprofit Management will host a program next month for organizations and individuals concerned with developing plans for succession and leadership transitions.
"Succession Planning and Leadership Transitions" will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, in the Great Room of Opus Hall at the university’s downtown Minneapolis campus. Cost, including lunch, is $45 ($20 with a St. Thomas ID). Register online or call (651) 962-4300.
Keynote speaker Tom Adams is a Maryland-based consultant who is the project manager for the Executive Leadership Transition and Capacity Building Project of the Annie E. Casey Foundation and the Transition Initiative of the Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organizations. He writes for Nonprofit World and other publications on leadership and other management topics, and is known as a national leader in executive transition research, practice and systems-building.
Among topics to be covered in the program:
- Transition issues specific to founders, long-term directors, CEOs, boards, executives and holders of other key positions
- The phases of a transition, a board’s role and an executive’s stance in the process
- Steps to improve personal planning for succession or transition.
