“The Year of the Dragon: Come Celebrate the Chinese New Year!” is the theme for the next International Tuesday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, in Koch Commons.
This will be a chance for U.S. and international students, staff and faculty to experience and learn about the celebration of the Chinese New Year, the most important holiday of the year in Chinese culture. Year 2000 is the year of the dragon, an important and regal symbol.
Chinese students and faculty from at least four countries are planning this event. There will be special food, music, decorations and traditional activities. Several Chinese students and Dr. Lily Hwa will explain the meaning and experience of Chinese New Year. If you are Chinese, you are encouraged to dress in native costume or bring your stories or photos to share.
Sponsors of International Tuesdays are International Student Services, Globally-Minded Students Association and International Education Center.
