Celebrate Black History Month: Learn what the future holds for black popular music Feb. 25 in Scooter’s
Dr. William Banfield, Endowed Chair in Humanities and Fine Arts, is the author of a new book, Black Notes: Essays of a Musician Writing in a Post-Album Age (Scarecrow Press, November 2004).
Come celebrate with him at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, in Scooter’s, when he’ll sign the new book and his CDs and perform with his ensemble, which includes drummer Stokley Williams (of Mint Condition); Serge Akou, bass; and Keith McCutchen, keyboards. Banfield is the guitarist.
Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr., chair of Harvard’s African American Studies Department, calls Banfield’s new book a “must read” and “a book from which to learn and by which to teach.”
