Iconographer Nicholas Markell ’84 "wrote" Holy Thomas - Angelic Doctor over a six-month period. The icon – which stands almost 5 and a half feet tall and nearly 4 feet wide – was presented to Campus Ministry on Sunday at the Opening Mass.

Planning Survey Responses Strong, Affirmative

More than 3,000 faculty, staff and students have responded to a planning survey commissioned by President Julie Sullivan, and they spoke in unison about their pride in St. Thomas’ academic excellence and their commitment to its Catholic identity and mission. Sullivan will use the planning survey results as part of strategic planning and will discuss the results during a brown-bag lunch discussion on Monday (Sept. 9) in Woulfe Alumni Hall.

President Julie Sullivan has appointed administrators and deans to two groups – a seven-member senior staff and a 20-member cabinet – to help her lead St. Thomas.

Search for Next EVP and Provost is Under Way

St. Thomas is beginning the search for its next executive vice president and provost. President Julie Sullivan has appointed a search committee and a search consultant, and they will assist her in choosing a successor to Dr. Susan Huber, who will retire next June 30.

First Sullivan Brown Bag Luncheon is Monday, Sept. 9

St. Thomas President Julie Sullivan will sponsor a monthly series of brown bag luncheons for faculty and staff to discuss important issues at the university. The first luncheon, at noon Monday, Sept. 9, in north Woulfe Alumni Hall, will review results from the planning and climate surveys conducted earlier this year.

After fleeing civil war in his homeland of Somalia, he sought refuge in Minnesota and earned an M.B.A. from St. Thomas in 2000. He was the founder and executive director of the African Development Center, and the first Somali-American in Minnesota to be elected to public office.
