UST biology alumna Meagen Wyckoff will give a free lecture, "The Design of Genetically Modified Crops to Combat Fungal Diseases," at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, in Room 251, Owens Science Hall.
Wyckoff, a 1998 St. Thomas graduate, is a graduate student in the University of Minnesota Department of Agronomy and Plant Genetics. She will present the results of her research on the development of transgenic varieties of wheat to combat head blight fungas, an important pathogen of wheat crops.
After the talk, she will be available to discuss graduate student life with anyone contemplating a career in biological research. Everyone’s welcome.
