James Campbell, group executive vice president for the Minnesota Banking Group of Wells Fargo & Co., will kick off the University of St. Thomas Alumni Association’s 2000-2001 First Friday Club series of luncheon speakers at noon Friday, Oct. 6, at the Radisson Plaza Hotel, 35 S. Seventh St., Minneapolis.
Campbell, who began is 36-year banking career as a bank trainee with Norwest Banks in 1964, will give his views on the future of banking in Minnesota amidst the change in the industry and his company. In 1998 he became president and chief executive officer of Norwest Bank Minnesota and executive vice president of Norwest Corp. When Norwest Corp. with Wells Fargo in 1998, he has become responsible for Wells Fargo’s Twin Cities and greater Minnesota banking regions, Indiana and Ohio, correspondent banking (nationally), Lowry Hill and Peregrine Capital Management. He also is the chairman and chief executive officer of Norwest Bank Minnesota.
On first Fridays of each month, October to June, the First Friday Club meets for lunch and a speaker of current interest. St. Thomas alumni and friends, along with the general public, are invited. Cost of each luncheon and presentation is $17.
On Nov. 3, the First Friday Club will welcome political analyst and consultant Vin Weber, and on Dec. 1, WCCO news anchor Don Shelby.
