Arch March Fundraisers to Benefit Ronald McDonald House

The fourth annual Arch March for the Ronald McDonald House will step off at noon Sunday, April 18.

Up to 48 families of chronically and terminally ill children are provided a home away from home at the Ronald McDonald House while their children receive medical care in the Twin Cities. Worldwide, more than 10 million families have benefited from Ronald McDonald Houses.

Students, faculty and staff are invited to join in several fundraising opportunities leading up to the event.

Here 's how you can help:

  • Donate spare change to Change Wars, which will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, April 13, and Thursday, April 15, in the Grill. Change Wars is a competition between the classes to collect spare change. Gain points for or against a class depending on which jar and what kind of money you place in a particular class jar. For example: A penny placed in the freshman jar counts as one point for the freshmen. A silver coin placed in the freshman jar counts as a point against that class; therefore, someone who wants the freshmen to win might put some pennies in the freshman jar and put nickels, dimes, quarters, etc., in the sophomore, junior and senior jars.
  • Buy a bracelet for $1 from an Arch March committee member at the march or at other Arch March fundraising events.
  • Collect pop-tabs off empty soda cans and place them in the Ronald McDonald Pop-tab Houses around campus or bring them to the event.
  • Sign up for the walk at one of the fundraising events or e-mail Katie Miller.
  • All Arch March donations are tax deductible, and checks should be made out to the Ronald McDonald House. Checks can be sent via campus mail to Miller at Mail #3757.

The Arch March will kick off with a final collection of pop-tabs, music and a brief talk before participants walk the three miles from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul campus, to the Ronald McDonald House. The event is free and open to the public with no prior registration necessary. Buses will shuttle participants back to St. Thomas after a check is presented to the Ronald McDonald House.

The events of the Arch March are sponsored by the American Marketing Association, Gamma Sigma Sigma and the Financial Management Association.
