The University of St. Thomas began a Christmas tradition more than 50 years ago when it erected an outdoor Nativity scene on its campus. But the lighted creche that will take its place atop the university’s Summit Avenue arches on Thanksgiving weekend isn’t the only campus treat for the eyes this holiday season. The university also plans to switch on nearly 8,000 white lights on its campus on Tuesday, Nov. 30.

The university invites campus neighbors, their families and friends to gather for its third-annual Christmas tree-lighting ceremony and Christmas carols at 5 p.m. on the north side of the arches between Aquinas and Albertus Magnus halls, 2115 Summit Ave. A reception and refreshments will follow. The event is free.

The creche and lights will be displayed throughout the holiday season.
