Christopher D. Nelson ’07, an attorney at Dunlap and Seeger P.A. in Rochester, Minn., will be the next speaker in the “Living the Mission: Alumni Reflections in the School of Law” series. He will present “Reflections on the Influence of the UST Law Formation.”

St. Thomas students, staff and faculty are invited and welcome to attend this luncheon event. It will be held from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, in Room 244 at the UST School of Law. Lunch will be provided through Dean Thomas Mengler’s office.
This speaker series presents St. Thomas alumni who discuss how they integrate faith, reason and service into their personal and professional lives. The Alumni Reflections series has presented an alumni speaker during the daily worship break once each semester since its inception in the School of Law in 2005. St. Thomas students, staff and faculty are welcome to attend.
Nelson is a native of southern Minnesota. As an attorney, he represents individuals and businesses in matters related to bankruptcy, corporate law, business litigation and business law. In particular, he provides counsel to debtors, creditors and trustees in all matters relating to bankruptcy cases, including Chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcy petitions, creditors’ remedies, out-of-court workouts and related bankruptcy litigation such as preferential and fraudulent transfer litigation.
Prior to joining Dunlap and Seeger, he worked as a law clerk in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General Corps at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, where he worked on matters involving criminal prosecution, contracts, civil litigation and copyright law.
At the University of St. Thomas School of Law, Nelson was the editor-in-chief of Fides et lustitia (faith and justice), the school’s law review. He was a director of the school’s Public Service Board, Minnesota Justice Foundation, and was the founder and president of the St. Thomas More Society. He volunteered more than 400 public service hours during law school.
In 2007, he was the recipient of the law school’s Living the Mission Award. He serves as an attorney mentor to law students and is active in the University of St. Thomas School of Law Alumni Association, where he serves as co-chair of the Annual Fund Committee. He serves as a director on the United Way of Olmsted County Board and as a trustee on the Olmsted County Law Library Board.
Raised on a farm where the previous four generations of his family lived and farmed, he is an active member at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Rochester and is a member of the Knights of Columbus. His wife, Elizabeth, is a nurse practitioner at the Mayo Clinic, specializing in the care of diabetes.
