The Stewardship Science Program and the Wellness Center are collaborating to collect extra vegetables to donate to a local food shelf.
The Stewardship Science Program is St. Thomas’ initiative to combine environmental science research with community development. During the past two years this program has donated more than 2,000 pounds of produce to local food shelves.
The program hopes to expand this service this summer. It is asking employees, students and their families to contribute excess produce from their vegetable gardens. Contributions will be given to Neighbors Inc., a food shelf in South St. Paul. A chronic need exists for fresh produce at food shelves, and any size donation is helpful.
