Looking for a work-study or campus job? The UST Center for Writing is recruiting new undergraduate consultants who have completed their second core course in literature and writing to apply to become a peer consultant starting in fall 2013.

The Center for Writing is looking for undergraduates from any major who can commit to assisting others with their writing, reading and critical thinking, and help reach out to others on campus and in the community.

Think the consultants just edit and proofread papers? Think again.

If communication is important to your future, consider the benefits of being a writing consultant:

• Strengthen writing abilities by talking face-to-face with other students about their assignments, drafts and revisions.
• Sharpen communication skills through conversations with diverse writers working on a variety of subjects.
• Be a standout to potential employers and graduate programs because of extensive experience working collaboratively with peers.
• Get involved in important projects to support the center’s mission – such as strengthening its presence through social media, reaching out to specific groups on campus, and maintaining its partnerships in the Twin Cities that focus on college readiness and literacy.
• Expand your appreciation of the power of language, improve intercultural maturity and work toward becoming a global citizen.
