Resident students have started to move into university residence halls. This Saturday, almost 1,200 first-year students will move onto the St. Paul campus. In order to properly welcome and provide space for them to move in, several parking changes will be made over the next few days.
There will be no parking in Lots A, B, C and G, and Ramps R-2 and R-3 from 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, until the lots are reopened on Saturday, Sept. 4, after the move-in of the first-year students. This may be as late as 8 p.m. Those who usually park in these areas are encouraged to park on the south campus.
In addition, there will be no parking on northbound and southbound Cretin Avenue from Mississippi River Boulevard to Selby Avenue from 4 p.m. Sept. 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4; also, from 10 p.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 2, to 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 6, there will be no parking eastbound on Selby from Cretin to Cleveland avenues.
All students, staff and faculty who will be on campus on Saturday are encouraged to car pool and park on the south campus and to not park in the neighborhood where parking is by city permit.
Starting at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, those who do not have a current resident parking permit for ramps R3 and R2 North are asked to park on the south campus, in lots V, X and Y. There will be no parking in the R2 or R3 ramps without a resident permit.
Overnight parking restrictions, no parking from 2 to 5 a.m., are effective beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6. These restrictions apply to all nonresident surface lots and to the Anderson Parking Facility on the south campus.
