What happened yesterday when UST’s computer system was down?

Starting at 3 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, we experienced a technical problem with the network equipment that connects the university to central systems in the data center. As a result, access to those central systems that house e-mail, voicemail, Banner, Blackboard, MyStorage and DeptStore were unavailable.
What did we do?
We worked with a vendor to make an emergency replacement of the failed equipment. The equipment arrived and was installed by 9:45 a.m. Our staff then made necessary configuration changes to the new equipment and all systems were fully available by noon.
